Patricia Starr ~ Cycles Cross Country

Patricia Starr, 72, spent fifty (50) days bicycling across country to raise funds for a music scholarship at Santa Barbara City College.

Raul R. Rodriguez, Conceptual Designer for the Tournament of Roses Parade says Patricia Starr is “A true inspiration to all, Patricia shows us how to reach deep and bring out the best in each of us. Combining talent, a profound spirit, and the gift of sharing as she rides across our beautiful country, wings spread, enveloping the world with love.”

The trek is 3,622 miles beginning in Astoria, Oregon and ending in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Patricia had to overcome many obstacles along the way – ominous electrical storms, rain, heat, wind, fatigue, hunger, a broken toe, screaming muscles, a nasty crash, panic at being lost and alone, sharing the interstate with 18- wheelers, a bear scare and her follow-up van being stolen.

It was quite an adventure and demanded documentation. So she put it all down in her new book, Angel on My Handlebars, Summerland Publishing, December 2009. Starr is a music teacher, pianist and former beauty queen, currently residing in Wahoo, Nebraska.
