Greetings from the Editor -
So this month
marks the
beginning of a new year with many
possibilities. As a member of the
aging population I also look forward
to creating new opportunities and
options for my impending retirement.
This senior publication is a part of
my personal and professional growth
as a senior citizen. It has helped me
grow my business and it has enhanced
my life as an individual. As we enter
our 52nd year as a publication; I enter
my fourth year as an editor and
publisher. There are many challenges
when we take on new projects and the
newspaper has presented a variety of
learning situations.
Additionally, I was involved in
publishing two books this year;
“Connections – The New Currency”
and “Get Your Name in Lights”. Both
works are collaborative efforts that are
geared toward businesses and
professionals who are working to
promote themselves through public
relations and relationship building.
Jan Fowler even gave me a ‘shout
out’ in her book for being a part of her
team of inspiration and
encouragement.
There have been radio shows, events
and a lot of consulting. As part of
Senior Industry Professionals, Inc. we
work with individuals and businesses
that want to grow their profile in a
particular area. Everything we do is
designed to help senior citizens where
they are right now. What do you want
to accomplish? How can we help that
effort? Our motto is ‘By Seniors, For
Seniors and About Seniors’. We
believe it and stand by it at every
opportunity.
The contributions from freelance writers
and our columnists (who are also seniors)
helps support what they are trying to
accomplish for themselves. Not Born
Yesterday! is one of the vehicles which assist
their efforts. Additionally, for the clients
we work with – there are opportunities for
radio promotion, television promotion and
internet promotional tools.
We find ourselves able to offer full service
marketing and public relations for seniors
that are looking for ways to promote
themselves or their businesses. Maybe we
can help you. As I say in every issue of this
senior publication, “The Application of
Knowledge is Power”.
However, as most of you know, I believe
it is important that we utilize our talents
and skills for the betterment of the human
condition. That statement and concept
means totally different things to everyone I
speak with - yet - one common thread
survives: Older adults want to share the
gifts they have been given in this life. They
want ways to encourage others and be a part
of positive change.
I challenge each of us to look within and
find ways we can make a difference by
sharing our stories, sharing what we know
and sharing who we know if that might be
the most beneficial for the greater good.
