Cover Story- (continued)

The show "Hot in Cleveland" epitomizes our boomer roots - each actress comes from a sitcom enjoyed when our lives were simpler. We invited them into our homes then and we invite them back again now in an attempt to capture the nostalgic youth we remember. Betty White is an outspoken advocate for animals and has been effectively sending her message, providing a positive impact for animal rights and the right treatment of animals. She promotes good clean fun, sanctions healthy relationships between older men and women, teaches younger folk about 'senior sensitivity' issues and is taken seriously.

White became the oldest person to guest-host Saturday Night Live, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award. White also holds the record for longest span between Emmy nominations for performances - her first was in 1951(the 3rd year of the Emmy program) and her most recent was in 2011, a span of 60 years. She has been nominated for over 50 awards from various peer groups and won over 25 based on peer evaluations. She has written 6 books.

Betty was married 3 times. Her third marriage was to Alan Ludden, the host for "Password". They were together for 18 years. He passed in 1981 from bladder cancer and she did not remarry. The incredible ensemble cast from "Golden Girls" have all passed away, leaving Betty to uphold the legacy. She does it so well. A 2011 poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos revealed that White was considered to be the most popular and most trusted celebrity among Americans, beating out the likes of Denzel Washington, Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks.

A big part of her appeal is attributed to the level of comfort she has with her age. White is helping many of us realize age just doesn't matter. As a matter of fact, she appears to be having more fun now than ever before. We want Ms. Betty White to live well into her 100's and we hope the 'powers that be' allow us to be around to witness every playful year.
